LRF News publication very educative
Dear Editor
Allow me to express my views on the injustices I suffered from the coordinator for St Francis Project Care Centre here in Livingstone.
It was on the 19th of May 2006 that I was unlawfully dismissed from the above mentioned (NGO) after being accused of stealing a battery of an Isuzu vehicle that l was driving at that time whilst I was on duty in Nakatindi compound which is 7 km from the head office.
I was therefore not happy with the termination of my contract because I never stole the battery which they said went missing on the 5th of May 2006. But the same battery was still in the car on the 8th of May . How did the battery find itself in the car over the weekend when the car remains at the convent. I took my complaint to the labour office where I was given a service certificate form for my former employer to fill in.
I was not happy with the outcome. I decided to go to the Legal Resources Foundation in Livingstone seeking advice and assistance on this matter. The legal officer at Livingstone called the coordinator to his office for a discussion so that we could resolve the matter. But the coordinator never went there. After seeing the call out from LRF, the coordinator reported me to the District Criminal Investigation Officer Livingstone alleging that I had threatened her, but l never did.
The police from the Criminal Investigations victimised me on June 5 and 6 when they arrested me as I was coming from the clinic.
I worked for this organization for two years and two months and the coordinator wanted to pay me K37,000 as my terminal benefits.
I was advised to withdrawal the matter from the LRF office of which I cannot do. Editor please allow the Legal Resources Office to come in and take over this issue of injustice so that justice can prevail.
I want the St Francis Project Care Center to compensate me on my notice pay, leave days, gratuity.

Mansa Town Clerk surprises me
Dear Editor
I have some concerns to make regarding the relationship between Mansa residents and Mansa Council town clerk.
One of my concerns is that I would like to know why should the town clerk make decisions without consulting the residents on issues pertaining to developmental projects like clean water and sanitation that deserve prompt attention.
Instead, the council opts to build structures likes motels, guest houses which are all over in the district and take time to bring in profit.
Mansa residents are not desperate for motels or guest houses.
What we need are services like sanitation, running and clean water and houses.
The second and the last concern is how land is being protected and so highly priced.
One example is that I know a Mansa resident who has a complaint against the council. This person was made to pay an amount of money for a piece of land and was later told to pay some more money for the same land.
What is the point of having a town clerk who lacks proper vision for the town?
It is for this reason that I write to your publication and seeking advice on what the role of the town clerk is.
It is my suggestion that land should be vested in the Ministry of Local Government just like what recently happened at the Lusaka City Council for the benefits of the local people.
Please I need your advice over the concerns above.
Yours faithfully

Zambians Let Us Vote
Dear Editor
I ask that you allow me to share my views with the rest of my fellow country men and women.
Dear country men and women, now that the election date has been set, I would like to urge all of you to go and vote wisely. Please do not shun the elections. Whichever leader will come into power will affect your life, so please take part. Even if the leader of your choice does not win, It will give you comfort because you know that you exercised your right to vote.
Please fellow Zambians, do not be misled by politicians who offer you gifts so that you can vote for them.
We only have one Zambia, so let us protect it. Be part of the happenings around you. It’s your vote that has the power to make changes.
I am praying for all Zambians so that they vote wisely so that we can put in place a leadership that is going to drive our country to prosperity.
I love you all Zambians.
