Refugee Held for One Year Without Trial

A Burundese national who sought asylum in Zambia has been detained for over
a year without appearing in court, the Legal Resources Foundation News has
learnt. Emmanuel Nyongabo came to Zambia in August 2006 as a refugee. Upon
arrival, he went to the local office of the United Nations High Commission
for Refugees (UNHCR) where he was given a refugee card, renewable after a
year.
Rwandan refugee cries for justice

Bizimana Ndagayo Achile, a Rwandan national is detained at Lusaka Central
Police Station for conspiracy to murder and murder. Achile told LRF that he
entered Zambia in 1994 as a refugee following the genocide in his country.
On 15 October 2007 he was arrested by police officers who stormed his house
and seized all his documents.

041,000. This is money due to him after he successfully sued the Zambia
Revenue Authority (ZRA)
Emmanuel Phiri, a Chipata resident, was hit by a ZRA vehicle at Mwami Border
Post, causing him a permanent disability in both legs in 1999.
